SORBSTAR® Flower Drying Crystals are specially designed silica gel desiccants ideal for preserving the shape, color, and integrity of fresh flowers, herbs, corsages, bouquets, wreaths, and seeds. The ultra-fine beads gently remove moisture, minimizing discoloration and petal damage during drying. Most flowers can be dried in 2–7 days.
Our crystals are available in two indicator types:
Orange Indicator Beads: Turn from orange to dark green when saturated.
Blue Indicator Beads: Turn from blue to pink when saturated.
Both indicators function the same way and help users visually identify when reactivation is needed. The white base silica gel is food-grade, dust-free, odorless, inert, and completely safe for handling.
Product Composition
Base Material: Silica Gel (SiO₂)
Type 1:White Non-Indicating Silica Gel + blue indicator
Type 2:White Non-Indicating Silica Gel + orange indicator)
Product Ingredients:
– White Silica Gel Crystals (90% content)
– Blue Indicator Silica Gel Crystals (10% content)
– Orange Indicator Silica Gel Crystals (10% content)
Bead Size: 0.35 – 0.85 mm
Shelf Life: 2 years in original (unopened) packaging
Sorbstar’s flower drying crystals are comprised of very fine (0.3 – 0.85mm) white non-indicating silica gel and blue or orange indicating silica gel beads. The fine crystals minimize bruising and help maintain the flower’s original shape during the drying process. The blue indicator silica will turn light pink and the orange indicator silica will turn green when the beads have reached their full adsorption capacity.This allows the user to easily identify when the flower drying crystals need to be reactivated.
As a rough guide, 6 partially opened roses will require approximately 2.5kg of flower drying crystals.

Reactivation Instructions:
When the indicator beads change color (orange → green or blue → pink), the crystals can be reactivated:
Oven Method:
Spread used crystals on a flat tray.
Heat in an oven at 115–125°C (240–260°F) for 2–3 hours, or until the indicator beads return to their original color.
Let crystals cool, then store in a sealed container for reuse.
Microwave Method (for small batches):
Place the silica gel in a microwave-safe container.
Use medium to high heat. Heat in intervals of 5 minutes, stirring between intervals.
Continue until the beads return to their original color (orange or blue).
Caution: Monitor carefully to prevent overheating.
How to Use – Flower Drying Steps
Step1: Prepare a Sealed Container
Pour a layer of silica gel at the bottom of the container.
Step2: Trim Flowers
Leave 3–5cm of stem. Place flowers face-up onto the gel.
Step3: Cover the Flowers
Gently pour crystals around and over the petals using a small cup, especially over the center of the flower.
Step4: Seal and Wait
Close the container tightly and leave it in a dry place for 2–7 days, depending on the flower type.
Step5: Remove and Clean
Carefully remove the dried flowers and shake off excess gel. Use a soft brush to remove any remaining crystals.
